William Carlton (Butch / W.C.) Tarter

William TarterWilliam Carlton (Butch / W.C.) Tarter, 67, of North Little Rock, AR passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016.

He was the 3rd and youngest son of Arthur and Ruby Tarter born on August 28, 1949.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruby, and infant brother, Bobby Joe.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Denise Ann (Gerren) Tarter and only child, William “Keith” Tarter, brother Charles Tarter and his wife, Chloe, and son Bobby Joe of Hazen, AR.

Butch / W.C. had a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Masters degree in Theology.  He was a retired ordained Baptist minister, former Chief Cost Accountant at Leisure Arts, consultant for the Small Business Administration department at University of Arkansas at Little Rock, accountant at Windsor Door Company as well as entrepreneur and businessman.

Butch / W.C. enjoyed fishing, sports, travelling and especially joking with the friends and family he so loved.  He enjoyed reading and studying history and theology.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen, AR.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church in Hazen, AR.

Interment will be at Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, AR.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the many caring nurses and doctors at Springhill Baptist Hospital Inpatient Services, Intensive Care and Rehabilitation Services.

Doris Billie Dalmasso

Doris Billie Dalmasso, 100, of Carlisle passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016.  This note was found in her papers, written when she was 94 years old.  It pretty much sums up her life.

“I was a 27 year old working at Moore Drydock shipyard [California].  I worked as Electrician and “Joe” was my boss.  It wasn’t love at first sight.  But he was so kind and nice to me – we fell in love.  I had a good life every since with two nice boys and family.  My life story.  Doris, Aug 2011″

Doris is survived by two sons, Joe Dalmasso of Apex, North Carolina and Don Dalmasso of MemphisTennessee.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.    Knowing our Mom, she would appreciate it more if you take that money,  buy yourself a nice meal, and think about the kind of person she was. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen on Friday, December 16, 2016. The graveside service will be immediately following the visitation at the Carlisle Cemetery in CarlisleArkansas.

Gladys Lucille (nee) Milner Corpier

Gladys Lucille (nee) Milner Corpier, age 90 of Biscoe passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Alcoa Pines Nursing Home in BentonArkansas.

She was born January 8, 1926 in Hickory Plains, Prairie CountyArkansas to the late Edward C. Milner and Hazel Dearing Milner.  Gladys was a member of the First Baptist Church of Biscoe.  She worked many years at the Dairy Bar in De Valls Bluff, she then took a job at De Valls Bluff School as a beloved lunch lady and bus driver.  She retired from De Valls Bluff school after 25 years of service.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, J.T. Corpier; brother, Leroy Milner; two sisters, Fay Parker and Betty Logan; two sons, Bobby McIntosh and Jamie Corpier.

She leaves behind five children, Larry Corpier and wife, Jennifer of Flower Mound, Texas, Fonda Prine and husband, Tom of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Pam Marsh and husband, Jerry of Farmington, Arkansas, Keith Corpier and wife, Linda of East End, Arkansas and LaDonna Taylor and husband, Toby of Conway;  two daughters-in-law, Joyce McIntosh and Janice Corpier; ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Biscoe.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Interment will be in the Biscoe Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert McIntosh, Glen Corpier, Casey Corpier, Blayne Prine, Garrett Corpier and Travis Hackelton.

Maggie Opal Weems

Maggie Opal Weems age 102, was born on November 16, 1914. She passed away December 9, 2016. She was the daughter of Sidney Burl and Florence Rogers Minton. She was fortunate enough to have another mother, Inez Edge Minton to help raise her. Opal was a life long citizen of Hazen. She worked along side her father and brothers in the field until she married her husband Aubrey Weems, then she farmed and kept the home for her family. She worked for Jucuzzi Brothers in Lonoke until she retired at the age of 70. Opal was a longtime member of  New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son,  Sidney Archie Weems and wife Barbra of Gurdon; Daughter Shelia Suzette Weems of Hazen; Brother Earl Minton of PeoriaIllinois; Sister Theresia Mathis and husband Richard of Buffalo, Texas; 12 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren and 16 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son  Aubrey Lynn Weems, four brothers, Alton, B.C.; C.D.; and John Minton: two sisters, Mae Baker, Adelle Corgatelli, and two grandsons,  Travis Weems and Terry Kee. Opal loved to right and tell stories and crochet. She was loved by many and will be missed.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Center Point Missionary Baptist  Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday December 11, 2016 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.

Janice White

Janice White, 71, of De Valls Bluff, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her home.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Aleen Ramsey and her twin sister, Paula.

Janice is survived by one son, Ronnie White (Olivia Holcomb) of Hazen; Grandchidlren, Ronnie Renee White, Ronald Garrett White, and Hunter Neil White; siblings, Betty Addison (Verlin) of Hazen, Dale Ramsey (Marie) of Memphis and Dwight Felts of Hazen.

A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the De Valls Bluff Cemetery.
