Doris Billie Dalmasso, 100, of Carlisle passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016. This note was found in her papers, written when she was 94 years old. It pretty much sums up her life.
“I was a 27 year old working at Moore Drydock shipyard [California]. I worked as Electrician and “Joe” was my boss. It wasn’t love at first sight. But he was so kind and nice to me – we fell in love. I had a good life every since with two nice boys and family. My life story. Doris, Aug 2011″
Doris is survived by two sons, Joe Dalmasso of Apex, North Carolina and Don Dalmasso of Memphis, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Knowing our Mom, she would appreciate it more if you take that money, buy yourself a nice meal, and think about the kind of person she was.
Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen on Friday, December 16, 2016. The graveside service will be immediately following the visitation at the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, Arkansas.
Please accept our condolence in the death of your mother. I often hark back to those days in the 50’s when we walked the streets of DeValls Bluff. Many fond and embarrassing memories come to mind. Family and parents were such an essential and beloved part of our lives. Time and distance by necessity diminishes that dependence but leaves indelible pathway in the chasms of our mind (even after dementia begins to have its inevitable effect). I hope your legacy will include family, a slower time, dusty roads and the grace of love and compassion. Often I return to Prairie County… I never pass by that house that your family occupied without remembering those days and the friends who walked those paths.
A friend since 1950, Sam (Sammy) Alexander May the Lord continue to bless you.
