Maudie Viola Nail Robinson

Maudie Viola Nail Robinson transitioned to eternal life on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at the age of 78 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents (Naymond Nail and Ora Lucy Smith Nail); her husband, Clifton Robinson; a son, Gary Robinson; her siblings and their respective spouses, Rainey and Billie Nail, Austin Nail, Doyle and Mary Lou Nail Baker; her sister-in-law, Mary Sid Dollar Nail; as well as a brother-in-law, Billy Joe Cook.

She is survived by a brother, Dean Nail of Dallas, TX, and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Oxford Nail of Biscoe and Debbie Robinson Cook (John Boyce) of Cabot; her children, Greg (Melody) Robinson of Hazen; Lonnie (Robin) Robinson of Mountain Home; a daughter-in-law, Beth Novak Robinson of Hazen; ten grandchildren/bonus grandchildren:  Katelyn Robinson Noah (Brett), Andrew Frazier, Vandon Robinson Dukes (Micah), Stone Robinson, Hunter Robinson, Caroline Robinson, Natalie Robinson, Mari Claire Robinson, Trinity Bobbitt and Blair Robinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.  She leaves behind a legacy of love to all who knew and loved her.

Maudie was raised on her parent’s farm in Biscoe, Arkansas.  She grew up working with her parents on the farm and attended local grade school in Biscoe, later transitioning to the DeValls Bluff School District where she graduated high school in 1964.  Shortly after graduation, she married her sweetheart, Clifton, and they lived in and around DeValls Bluff for most of her adult life.

Between tolerating Clifton’s antics and enduring the raising of three rough, rowdy, and rambunctious boys, there is no doubt she deserves a special place in heaven.  Fortunately, God later blessed her with seven granddaughters to balance out the testosterone overload that she endured earlier in life.

She worked at various office jobs and the local bank for a significant part of her early career.  Her affection for children later led to her operating a small childcare service from her home.  From 1990 until 2007, she and her husband, Clifton, were employed as caretakers for a local hunting lodge before transitioning at their retirement to Mountain Home, Arkansas.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999.  After undergoing initial treatment, she was declared to be in remission but experienced a late recurrence in November of 2020.  She was able to treat this with conservative management until it ultimately ended her earthly life.

Maudie was a Christ-follower, and it is because of her personal relationship and daily walk with Jesus that we have great reassurance that she is rejoicing in the presence of her King.  She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a caring friend to all who knew her.  By earthly standards, she held no lofty aspirations beyond her God-given task of loving and humbly serving others.  She left a positive mark on all those whom she encountered.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from noon until 2 pm at Conner Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home.  There will also be a visitation from noon until funeral service time at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Hazen, Arkansas. Graveside services will follow at Oakland Cemetery in DeValls Bluff.  Arrangements for the services in Hazen and burial are entrusted with Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen, Arkansas.

We kindly invite all family and friends to join us as we honor the memory of our loved one and celebrate the promise of our Savior for those who know Him.  While we mourn, we do so not as those who have no hope!

Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Home Christian Academy, where she served previously as a volunteer, and which in turn served her regularly by supporting her for more than a decade through its Widow’s Ministry.

  1. To the family of my friend, classmate and Maid of Honor, Maudie Nail Robinson: Maudie was one of the sweetest, most caring people I’ve ever known. I got to know her many years ago when she was dating Clifton, my boyfriend’s best friend. We went to school together but since she was a whole year younger than me, our paths didn’t cross much there. We did a lot of “double dating” together, mostly just drives on muddy roads out in the “project” many times getting stuck in the mud which the guys thought was fun! I guess that was our version of “muddin” except back then it was done in our cars! Through the years they were always some of our favorite people. I am so sorry to learn of Maudie’s death and am sorry we will not be able to attend either of her services. Tommy has dementia now and gets very confused in strange situations so I have chosen not to subject him to any further confusion. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. She will be missed by many! Love to you all, Tommy and Betty Price, Searcy, AR

  2. Working with Maudie, was a present! 🎁 She and I loved working with the public. We experienced the bank robbery, together, and survived and learned to laugh about it. She, then took care of my girls and spoiled them. My youngest would cry to go to Mamaw Maudie’s!!! I’ll miss her and I love her!
