Selma Zimmerman, 102, of Carlisle, died June 29, 2016 at her home.  Selma was owner and administrator of Zimmerman Nursing Home for over 50 years, and had a number of real estate interests.

Selma is survived by two sons, Wayne Marsh and John Zimmerman; one daughter; Doris Chandler; 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by here husband, John George Zimmerman and an infant son, George Lee Zimmerman.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.  Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Albert Ray Rorie

Albert Rorie picture 001Albert Ray Rorie of Hazen left this world on June 25, 2016.  He was born to Harvey and Edith Rorie (both deceased) on June 16, 1940 in Bigelow, Arkansas.  He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Bonnie Perry Rorie of Hazen; his children,  Tommy (Angie) Rorie of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Health (Barbara) Rorie of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mary Ann Rorie of Little Rock, Arkansas; step-children, Jo Anna  (Freddie) Fisher , James (Jeana) Baxter, and Brian (Sherry) Baxter all of Hazen.; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Adams of Alexander, Arkansas and Dorothy Barnes of Nevada.  Albert was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.  Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Center Point Cemetery.  Officiating at the service will be Bro. Wayne Snider, Bro. Ralph Perry and Bro. Allen Minton.  Pallbearers will be Brian Baxter, James Baxter, Cory Fisher, Dalton Baxter, Hunter Baxter, and Albert Perry.  Honorary Pallbearers are Woodrow Tipton, Sam Carlyle, and Charlie Branham.

Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Stacy Ann Ragland

Stacy Ann Ragland, 50, of Brooklyn, Arkansas, passed away Friday,  June 17, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.  She was born May 7, 1966 in Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Stacy is survived by her three children, Stephen Griffin, John Bates II, and Morgan Bates; her parents, Bob and Earley Rice of Jonesboro and Burt and Margie Ragland of Stuttgart; her brother, Scott Ragland of Little Rock and Shelby Ragland Hoyle and her husband, Terry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her step-siblings, Todd Mulloy, Mike Mulloy, Tony Rice, Derek Rice, and Michael Rice; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.  She was preceded in death by her step-sister Stacey Mulloy Fink.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The NEA Baptist Fowler Family Center for Cancer, 4800 East Johnson Ave., Jonesboro, Ar. 72401.

Dale Clifton Brainard

Dale Clifton Brainard, 46, of Carlisle, died June 18, 2016. He was employed at Remington Arms Corporation. 

Dale is survived by his parents, Loyd and Charlene Brainard of Grand Prairie, Texas; one son, Drake Clifton Brainard of Texas; two daughters, Brianna Nicole Montgomery and Sevrianna Elanor Woods both of Texas; one grandson, Sawyer Montogmery; two brothers, Loyd Edwin Brainard and David Charles Brainard both of Texas; three sisters, Vicki Elder, Kathy Elder, and Carla Hanks all of Carlisle.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Carlisle Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

John “Vance” Coffman

John “Vance” Coffman, 79 of De Valls Bluff died June 10, 2016.  He was born on September 3, 1936 to Farris and Dorothy Coffman.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, teacher, loan officer for Commercial Credit and retired from the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia King Coffman; children, Linda Ludene “Clyde” Coffman and Ronnie Bearden of De Valls Bluff, Gail Adams of Stuttgart, and Debbie Foster of Seattle, Washington; brother, Garry Coffman; sisters, Betty Coffman, Linda Fields, and Brenda Graves; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in De Valls Bluff .  Memorials may be made to the church.

Edith Ann Thomas

Edith Ann Thomas, 67 of Biscoe, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.  Edith was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Coy Thomas; one son, Johnny Thomas and wife, Casandra of Hazen; one daughter, Deenda Hubbard and husband, Britt of Biscoe; five brothers, Herschel, Pete, Lester, Cecil, and Chuckie Miller; two sisters,

Jenny Howard and Louise Weddle, and six grandchildren, Jacob, Brittney, Noah, and Josh Hubbard and Carson and Catherine Thomas.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Madge Miller and her sister, Carolyn Cook.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 20 at the Family Christian Fellowship Church in Hazen.  Burial will be in the Hazen Cemetery.

Dorothy Daloris Raborn Buffalo

Dorothy Daloris Raborn Buffalo, 96, of Carlisle, was born September 12, 1919 to George and Elsie Raborn in Carlisle, Arkansas and she passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.

On January 30, 1941, she married Robert M. Buffalo.  For nearly sixty years, they lived and worked the farm where she was born and she continued to be involved with the farm she so loved until her death.

She was a charter member of Carlisle Progressive Club, active in Extension Homemakers Clubs for more than fifty years and could often be found having lunch with friends at the Carlisle Senior Citizen’s Center.  She and Robert raised their family in the Baptist Church where she was active for many years.

Mrs. Buffalo is survived by sons, Robert E. and Richard F. (Dianne) Buffalo both of Carlisle and her daughter, Janice (Jim) Gooch of Forrest City.

She is also survived by six grandchildren who called her “Nana”, Carole Acord, Mark Buffalo, Suzanne Bible, Richard Buffalo, Jonathan Buffalo and Alexandria Buffalo; great grandchildren surviving are Lauren Nelson Pickering, Alexis Nelson, Eric and Vivian Bible, Devon, Heather, Mary Elisabeth, Noah, Kaitlyn, William and Owen Buffalo and Ruby Cash and one great great grandson, Asher Johnson.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Georgia Lee Buffalo, and granddaughter, Dr. Elizabeth Buffalo Nelson.

Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Thursday, June 16, at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 17, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Carlisle.  Interment will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Betty Janelle Hogan

Betty Janelle Hogan, age 78, of Hazen, passed away June 8, 2016 at her home.  Janelle was born November 26, 1937 to Jack and Irene Johnson Box in Hazen.

She was a factory worker and homemaker and she dearly loved her family and was known as “Grandma” to everyone.

Janelle was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dwayne Keith Hogan and her sister, Janie Belle Dawson.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Hogan; daughter, Linda (Gary) Arman of Hazen; grandsons, Clay (Brandy) Snider of Cooter, Missouri, Cody (Sarah) Snider, and Coy (Faith) Snider both of Hazen and five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Emma Grace, Maverik, Luke, and Scarlet Rose.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Center Point Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Snider officiating.

Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.
