Gloria Mae Bujarski Uhiren

Gloria Mae Bujarski Uhiren, 91, of Carlisle, passed away September 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Emma (Keller) Bujarski; her husband of 41 years, William (Bill) Uhiren; an infant son; brother, Norvell Bujarski and sister, Marie Collins. She is survived by her four children; Debby Welch (Bill) of Bentonville, Arkansas; Peggy Moody (Curt) of Carlisle; Fred Uhiren (Rhonda) of Hazen; Joan Woodruff of Little Rock and her sister; Charlotte Halter of North Little Rock. Gloria had 8 grandchildren; William Moody (Melissa), Michelle Uhiren Venne, Christopher Paladino, Drew Moody (Tessa), Katie Reagan, Michael Paladino (Leslie), Joey Uhiren and Wendy Uhiren. She had nine great-grandchildren; 2 boys and 7 girls and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gloria was born at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, Arkansas. She lived her first 3 years in Levy, Arkansas and then resided on Main Street in North Little Rock, Arkansas across from North Little Rock Old Main High School. Gloria went to school at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in North Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s High School, Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 16. She was a member of the Nu Phi Mu sorority. At the age of six, she began working at the family sandwich shop, Frank’s Place, next to their home. She was a businesswoman in little Rock until she married her love of her life, husband, Bill. She and Bill farmed in Prairie County. They moved to Carlisle, Arkansas in 1964. Gloria loved to dance! She served as president of Carlisle Schools Parent Teacher Association and as president of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Altar Society and was member of Farm Bureau. With her bookwork experience and Bill’s farming skills, they had a very successful farming operation. She loved the Catholic Church and attended daily Mass as often as she could. She prayed the rosary daily and had a strong belief in Saint Anthony of Padua, patron saint of the return of lost articles and was a faithful attendee at First Friday Services.

The family has many people to thank but offer special gratitude to Chambers Nursing Home Center, Baptist Hospital at Springhill, Dr. Kenneth Sauer and special grandchildren, Katy, Chris, Wendy, William, and Drew.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Carlisle, P.O. Box M, Carlisle, Ar. 72024 or Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Slovak.

Rosary will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Carlisle. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 4:30 at the church prior to the funeral at 4:30. Burial will be at the Slovak Catholic Cemetery in Slovak.

  1. All of Mom’s grandchildren were special to her. I worded the obituary incorrectly. Michelle and Michael were just as special. It was acts of “special” care by these five grandchildren who were able to attend to Mom’s in the last week of her life. We will miss Mom who is in heaven and at peace. She loved us all.
