Velma Elizabeth Wheatley Prine

Velma Elizabeth Wheatley Prine, 89, of Hazen, Arkansas passed away March 30, 2022 surrounded by her family. Velma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Archie C. Prine; son, Charles Bruce Prine; parents, Elwood and Sally Long Wheatley; brothers, Billy Wheatley, Harlan Wheatley, James Wheatley and Johnny Wheatley; sisters, Marcie King and Margie Smith. Velma is survived by her children Harold Dean (Kathy) Prine of Moline, Illinois, Archie Lee (Diane) Prine of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Rita (Dwight) Isbell of DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, Carol (Clyde) Stanford of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Darrell (Beth) Prine of Hazen, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren, Bret Prine, Michael Prine, Matthew Prine, Jeremy Isbell, Branden Prine, Brandon Isbell, Janelle Taylor, Lauren May, Jana Taylor, Lance Alan Prine, Jeremy Bruce Prine, Colton Stice, Lance Stafford Prine, Luke Prine; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Versa Dean Jones, Thomas Wheatley, Shirley Moore, Earnie Mae McWhorter, Sue Rochelle, Glenda McCannon, Sandra Kay Ruiz; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Velma retired from Remington Arms after 24 years. Velma, known as MawMaw, loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved babysitting and cooking large Sunday meals that would feed a small army. The homemade chicken and noodles were all the family’s favorite.                                                                                                            

The family would like to say a special thanks to Rita Leistiko for the love that you showed our mother. She looked forward to your visits. You will always have a special place in our hearts. 

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by her Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, on Friday, April 1, 2022.

    Many prayers love and hugs for each of you. Miss Velma was such a sweet kind loving person . I remember getting to ride her bus before I was in school, and sitting up beside her,really thought I was special. Momma always knew if we weren’t
