Randy Schafer

Randy Schafer, 64, of Lonoke, beloved husband, Daddy and Pop-pop, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. He was born April 9, 1950 to Melvin and Judy Schafer of Lonoke.
He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Claire Haygood Schafer. He was Daddy to tow daughters, Christy (Larry) Duncan, Monica (Richard) Yager, and one son, Matt (Nicole) Schafer.
He was Pop-Pop to eight wonderful grandchildren, the light of his life; Lauren Yager, Taylor Duncan, Abby Grace Yager, Scout Duncan, Ella Schafer, Lilly Yager, Kate Schafer and Caroline Schafer.
Randy is also survived by his parents, Melvin and Judy Schafer; three sisters and one brother, Melba (James) Burleson, Julie (Roger) Ingle, Mark (Patricia) Schafer and Cindy (Mark) Uhiren.
Randy was a lifetime farmer and served as a member of the Lonoke County Co-Op Board of Directors for over 30 years.
Visitation and Rosary will be held Thursday, February 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle. Rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M.. The funeral will be held Friday, February 13 at 10:00 A.M.. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Carlisle Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in honor of Randy to Arkansas Hospice (arkansashospice.org/donations) or Association for frontotemporal Degeneration (theaftd.org).

I will always remember being over the McMullen’s when we were in highschool and Randy and you were always over there too with Stina and Eddie. Those were surely the good ole days.   16. I am so sorry (really numbed) to hear about Randy. He was a good friend since the 1st grade, and we enjoyed playing trombone together in the CHS band. I always looked forward to bumping into him on my trips home, and he always had something funny to say about how our paths had diverged over the years.     My family just learned of Randy’s passing. We are so very sorry for your loss and are praying that the Lord will bring comfort and peace in your lives.
    Randy was a fine man with a large warm heart for everyone he came in contact with. My Mom and Pop, Frank and Ethelee Cheney, were very appreciative of Randy and his farming of our home place.
    He is missed by all who knew him and will be remembered as he was.
