Ellen Lorene Stewart

ELLEN LORENE STEWART, 90, OF De Valls Bluff, Arkansas, passed away on April 27, 2024. Ellen was born on August 29, 1933 in De Valls Bluff, Arkansas to Phillip and Velma Fricker.

Ellen married her husband of 69 years, Fred M Stewart in September of 1954. She worked for the city of Hazen as dispatcher, police officer/sergeant, EMT, and finished out her career as Municipal Court Clerk for 20 years. Ellen was one of the first female EMTs in the State of Arkansas.

Ellen was preceeded in death by her parents, Phillip and Velma Fricker; her youngest brother, James Fricker, of De Valls Bluff. She is survived by her husband, Fred M. Stewart; daughter, Sherry Atkins(Lonnie Cessor); son, Fred L. Stewart(Lanette); five grandchildren, Stacy, Phillip, Anthony, Caleb, and Rachel; one great-grandchild, Emiley, with Glenn Joseph Stewart due in August; one great-great-grandchilddue in October, Thomas Fredrick Roberts; one brother, Earl Fricker of De Valls Bluff, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen, Arkansas. Funeral service for Mrs. Ellen will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1:00PM at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel at 115 N Livermore Street in Hazen, Arkansas.

  1. I had the pleasure of taking care of Mrs.Stewart in her final months. I work with her for 5 months and I truly enjoyed every minute of taking care of her. She wasn’t just a client she was my friend that became family. I love you Mrs Ellen you will always be My Lady bug 🫶🏽

  2. This was a great lady I enjoyed working with her at the police department, we shared many stories at work and on ambulance runs. Loved her and her family.
