Mary Marie Weems, 99, of Lonoke, died August 31, 2015.  She was a wife, a homemaker, and later became an author having one book published and another written.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; two brothers and three sisters.  She is survived by nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Center Point Cemetery.

Rhonda Sue Berry

Rhonda Sue Berry 51, of Carlisle, passed away on August 29, 2015.  She is survived by her daughters, Blaze Tipton and Marsha (Bobby) Banks; grandsons, Braxton Banks and Bradley Banks; brother, Jessie (April) Tipton and her father and mother.

Barbara Sue Phillips born September 26,1938 went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 29, 2015. She is survived by her son Richard Berry, (daughter Michelle Strickland & Haley Berry- Matthew Fuller) granddaughter Baley Berry, Heather Strickland, Holly Strickland, Abby Palsa. Great grandchildren Kaleb Boyle, Brooke Boyle, Calee Fuller, Hadley Fuller, and Saygan Ashcraft. Sister Carolyn Freeman-Jerry Freeman. Brothers Tommy Townsend- Ann and Jerry Townsend. And her beloved friend Audrey Swaim. She is proceeded in death by her husband William Phillips, her son George Berry, her niece Cyndi Townsend, and her parents Charles and Frances Townsend. She was a treasure that we will always hold in our hearts and a sparkle I will see when I look to the heavens!

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 1, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle. Visitation will be from 1:00 -2:00.

Viola (Chesser) Baxter

Viola (Chesser) Baxter, age 86, of Biscoe, passed from this life at her home surrounded by family on August 20, 2015.  She was a retired school teacher and an alumni of Ouachita Baptist University.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Biscoe.

Viola was born to Jim and Minnie Chesser on October 25, 1928, the 4th of five children.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Baxter; her children, Jimmy Baxter (Mary), Timmy Baxter (Vicki), and Tammy Roush (Tom); 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many special friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, August 22 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 23, at the First Baptist Church in Biscoe.  Burial will be in the Biscoe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Jessie Wynona (Taylor) Weems

Jessie Wynona (Taylor) Weems, 71, of Hazen, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2015.

She retired after 21 years of service at the Des Arc Nursing home as a CNA.  Jessie was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church in Hazen.

Jessie was preceded in death by her father, Jesse A. Taylor.  She is survived by her husband, Dorris J. Weems; her mother, Vivian Godwin of Lonoke; three daughters, Patricia Diane (Alan) Hendrix of Malvern, Lisa Ann (Mark) Mangum of Haskell and Chestina Renna Brown of Tennessee; two step-children, Teddy(Kathleen) Weems of Carlisle and Mandy Weems of Stuttgart; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy (Julia) Taylor and Terry Taylor, both of Lonoke.

A memorial service will be held at the Center Point Baptist Church in Hazen at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 21, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to www.curepsp.org.

Jake Harlan Caviness

Jake Harlan Caviness, 22 of Carlisle was born June 6, 1993 and received his angel wings and went to be with the Lord in heaven on July 31, 2015.

Jake was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Rosie DeWitt and Mary and Mon Cochran.

He is survived by his parents, Harlan and Monica Caviness and brother, Zachary all of Carlisle; grandparents, Jerry and Marilyn Miller of Carlisle and Joe and Verda Mae Caviness of Hazen; aunts and uncles, John and Missy Hillman, Neal and Jennifer Sheets, and Jason and Jill Caviness and David and Rhonda Martin of Huntsville, Alabama; cousins, Clayton, Sydney, and Callie Hillman, Cole Sheets, John and Mark Martin and Luke and Lilly Caviness and many more family and friends.

Jake graduated from Carlisle High School in 2012.  He was a multi-sport athlete and participated in football, basketball and baseball.  He was a member of both the baseball and football teams that went to the state finals and he was proud to call himself a “Bison”.  He was attending Arkansas Tech University and was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity.  He was so proud to call them his “brothers”.  He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church  and worked at Atwoods in Russellville while attending college.

Jake was loved by so many people and his bright and beautiful smile will be missed.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, August 3, 2015 in the hall at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle.  Rosary will be at 8:00 P.M. following visitation in St. Rose Catholic Church.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle.  Burial will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.
