Barbara R. Price Schlenker

Barbara R. Price Schlenker, age 72, of De Valls Bluff died Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

She was a member of the Methodist Church of De Valls Bluff and enjoyed her family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Robert Schlenker, Sr. and her father, James Henry Price.  She is survived by her son, Earl Robert Schlenker and wife, Rita; mother, Marie Price of De Valls Bluff; two brothers, Jimmy Price and wife, Linda of Hazen and Dennis Price and wife, Barbara of De Valls Bluff; one grandson, Justin Schlenker and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday evening December 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 23, at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.  Burial will be in the Hazen Cemetery.

James Edward Mealler

James Edward Mealler of Paris, Arkansas died December 13, 2013 at the age of 64.  He is sujrvived by his wife of 33 years, Bobbie Mealler; four children, Aundrea Strouse and husband, Ken of Scranton, Arkansas, Michael Mealler and Libby Schmalz of Humnoke, Miquael and Mike Hoffman of Newburg, Missouri, and Clint and April Mealler of Paris; eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and one grandson due in February. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruthie Mealler; four brothers, Willie (Bill) Mealler, John Mealler, Richard Mealler and Eugene Mealler.  He leaves behind four sisters, Lorene Latner of California, Glenda Smallwood of Clarendon, Sandra Horton of Lonoke and Mary Larry of Little Rock; one brother, Jesse Mealler of Ashdown and a host of family and friends. 

Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen,Arkansas

Spencer Lee Ingle

Spencer Lee Ingle, 73, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013.  He was a former farmhand and a resident of Chambers Nursing Home.  He is survived by his son, Curtis Ingle of Carlisle; daughter, Kathy Lee Jones of Lonoke; step-son, Audie James Montgomery of Carlisle; Four brothers, Troy, Leroy, Wayne and Joe Ingle; five sisters, Evelyn Ward, Rachel Pokies Hester, Sue Bates, Margie Walker, and Tressie Leeker; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 9 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 10 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.  Burial will be in theCenter Point Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Jerry Leon Raper

Jerry Leon Raper was born May 16, 1927 in the Brown Grove Community north of Hazen, Arkansas.  He went to his heavenly home December 3, 2013.

He was preceded in death by a baby daughter; his mother Mauvline Inge and step-father, Arthur Ingle; his grandparents, Harley and Lillar Raper and two special brothers, Earl and Carl Raper.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Raper of Hazen; one son, Johnny Raper and wife, Becky of hazen; three daughters, Pam Tosh and husband, Charles of Hazen, Jan Bryant and husband, David of Lonoke and Kim Nielsen and husband, Jake of Hazen; six grandchildren, Sheila Blumhorst of Hazen, Jesse Tosh and wife, Miranda, Raymond Raper and wife, Lucy, LeAnn Hooks and husband, Luke, Matthew Bryant and Amber Basart.

Two step-grandsons, John and Joey Nielsen and their families.  Nice great-grandchildren, Trenton Wiggins, Kaitlin and Kolton Tosh, Shelton, Eli and Jacob Kitchens and Sophie Jane and Bella Rae Raper and Levit Daniel hooks; two brothers, Finis Ingle and Fletcher Ingle and wife, Barbara; six sisters, Ina Adams, Mary Nell Wood, Shirley Bowen, Florence Reeves, and husband Alvin, Emma Carlyle and husband, Sam and Joann Langley and husband, John; three sister-in-laws, Ann Gonnerman and husband, Curt, Carolyn Frazier, and Theresa Brewer and husband, J.D.; two brother-in-laws, Larry Forte and wife, Renee and Doyle Forte and wife, Rachel.

Jerry was a Missionary Baptist minister for over 50 years.  He pastured the following churches, Pleasant Ridge in Hazen,Bethel in Augusta, Faith in Des Arc, Mt. Pleasant in Bradford, and Oak Grove in Austin.  He pastored Pleasant Ridge again and retired there in February of 2008.

Jerry loved the Lord and preaching God’s Word.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the Center Point Cemetery.

James L. Baker

James L. Baker, 74, of Carlisle died Monday, December 2, 2013.  He is survived by his wife, Jenny Baker; 5 daughters, Terrie Baker, Shirley Wright, Marie Archuleta, Christine Moon and Kristi Shoemake; one son, James Todd Baker; three brothers; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  He was a logger and a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.  Burial will be in the Old Carlisle Cemetery.

Phillip Lynn Abrams

Phillip Lynn Abrams, age 37, of Hazen went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2013.  He was surrounded by his loved ones when he received his set of wings.

Phillip is survived by his parents, Ricky  and Marilyn Edge of Hazen; one brother, Eric Abrams of Hazen; two sisters, Brandy Hayes of Springdale, Arkansas and Crystal Tosh of Hazen; his grandparents, Buddy and Frances Edge of Hazen; three aunts, Tammy Edge of Hazen, Wanda Tiner of Stuttgart, and Dean Gunnell of Maumelle; four nephews and two nieces, and a lot of cousins.

Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loyd and Ruby Morgan and Jack Abrams and a special aunt, Opal Thomas.

Phillip was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Carlisle.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Hazen Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.
