Sarah Welty Betzner

Sarah Welty Betzner, 90, of Hazen, Arkansas, passed away on August 16, 2014.  She was the daughter of the late Jesse A. and Sarah Elizabeth Welty of DeValls Bluff, Arkansas.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank N. Welty and sister, Elizabeth Welty Perry.  She is survived by two sons, William Brooks Betzner, Jr. of Hazen and Frank Betzner (Lynne) of Little Rock, a neice, Suzann Welty Barr (John), and three grandchildren, Sarah Lynne Betzner, William James Betzner and Michael Brooks Sowell.

Sarah was raised in DeValls Bluff and lived most of her life in Hazen, Arkansas.  She was family and community minded and participated in several organizations helped in several activities in the community.   She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Hazen, serving as treasurer for a number of years.  She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and looked forward to those events.

She retired from the State of Arkansas Social Services Division and enjoyed many of her remaining retirement years traveling with friends and going to Razorback games.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Hazen or to Christ Lutheran School in Little Rock.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.M., Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery in De Valls Bluff.
