Philip J. Petrus, Jr.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)

Philip J. Petrus, Jr. 1/22/1952 – 06/16/2023. Phil was a man of strong faith and knew life was fragile. He would always stress the importance of needing to live our lives in such a way that we’re ready for when God calls us home. He referred to this as “sittin on go.” He shared this with his wife, family, and others around him. He would say “this life is just a proving ground, we’re just passing through, and it is all about choices.” He lived his faith, praying God would use him to help others. He leaves behind a legacy that lives on in the lives he touched.

He is preceded in death by his father, Philip J. Petrus, Sr. and his son, Mitchell.  He is survived by his wife Sue of Carlisle; mother, Evelyn of The Woodlands, Texas; son Trey of Destin, Florida; sister, Marilyn of The Woodlands, Texas; four stepchildren, Rhonda, Kimberlee, Tessa, Donald, and their spouses; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and many others who will always love him. He was an inspiration to everyone around him and a hero to his family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 23, 2023 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen, Ar. Funeral service will be 10:30 Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Biscoe Church of Christ in Biscoe, Arkansas.  Interment will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.

The family wants everyone to know that seating is limited and please dress comfortably.

Prayers go out to the Petrus family. Phil and I were classmates and team mates in the 1970 class at Carlisle High School . Phil was a “gentle giant “ and a great guy . It was an honor to have grown up with him . He will be missed. God Bless ! Thomas. Cunningham

  3. Mr. Phil was a wonderful man. I am thankful to have called him my friend. I will miss him and our visits. He was a good steward of the land and loved the farm. He was a man of great faith and shared that with those around him and was a blessing many. Praying for his family he loved so much,

  4. Sue & family,
Phil was the best man out there and loved y’all more than words could ever say. He always said that our time on this earth is temporary and the ultimate goal is to go home and be with God. Rest assured—He’s with God now.

Praying you find peace and comfort in your memories until you meet again. XO

    Love you SO much!

  5. Sue, I am sorry to hear about Phil. I always enjoyed talking with him when he came in the Farm
Bureau office. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Mr Phil was a wonderful man with such a love for God, his wife and sons, his family and friends. My last trip home I was honored to get to spend time talking with him after Sunday morning service that he taught. It was a wonderful sermon and I left filled.
I’ve loved and respected Mr Phil, Mrs Sue and the boys for several years. I know there was quite the reunion in Heaven as Mitch welcomed his dad home. There were tears of sadness here as he will be missed but tears of joy as we know he is his heavenly home and we all hope to see him again some day

    1. Prayers for peace for Mrs Sue, Trey and the family and for a flood of wonderful happy memories to crowd out the sad times. Love yall
