Sweet Biscoe memories surfacing today! We grew up in an idyllic time and place like no other! I will always remember how pretty Lennie was as a classmate, how sweet Mrs. Virgie was, and how much fun we had growing up in Biscoe and going to G.A.’s at church. Mrs. Irene Singleterry, Mrs. Golda Mason and Mrs. Syrena Green were our leaders. Mrs. Rebecca Patterson was our Sunday School teacher. Marty Mertens was our chauffeur (or so we thought), and Mrs. Maudie and Mr. Paul had fun Training Union parties at their house. All these were important mentors to me and Lennie and all the others our age. Krisie, you have my sincere condolence. Lennie was a great friend!

Dear Krisie and Charles, It is with deep sadness that I write to you. I am not sure what our family will do without Lennie. I think we thought she would outlive all of us. Especially in times of crisis, she was the first person to call, since she always knew how to handle every situation. She was the one who kept us informed. When daddy died, I don’t know what we would have done without her. When we were kids visiting daddy during the summers, Lennie would drive us to the Diary Bar. I remember thinking “I want to drive just like Lennie when I grow up.” She used one finger to turn the steering wheel. I wish I had paid more attention to her driving, maybe I wouldn’t have people yelling at me “you might could drive better if you would get off the phone.” That actually happened this week. No person will ever replace the longing in your heart for your mother. Time and the thought of your precious mother spending eternity with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will help. In the days to come, try to hold fast to the thought that you will one day be with her again. We love you. Deana

  9. My dear friends Charles and Krisie,
Your wife and mom, touched the heart of my wife Emily and in doing so got mine by default. She and Emily became best friends as they ran the roads together as often as possible. Lennie was a friend like none other and Emily treasured the memories they built together. With our Lord, they celebrate together with Him today.
Lennie always amazed me with her memory for the smallest detail and I loved our times, when we would sit and talk. Not everyone even knows how to visit today, but she was indeed a master at spending time with others. I love you both and will so miss Ms Lennie.

As a remarkable lady in many ways, Mrs. Lennie Holmes will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. Her friendly smile, pleasant voice, and twinkling eyes radiated her inward personality of love for others. She and Bro Charles loved people as evidenced by their many acts of kindness shown toward others over the years.

Our prayers continue for Bro. Charles, Krisie. and others. May God’s Word and His Holy Spirit (the “Comforter”) provide strength, comfort, and
assurance in this time of sorrow. Billy and Gail Booth
