John Edward “Big John” Holyfield, Sr., 80, of Hazen, peacefully passed away September 2, 2020 at St. Vincent’s in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born August 1, 1940 in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas to the late Porter Holyfield and Helen Ford. John had retired after 32 dedicated years of service with the Prairie Farmers Association. John was the beloved husband and best friend of his one and only love of 61 years, Martha Holyfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carolyn Schell, his cherished daughter, Debra “Debbie” Scroggins, and a granddaughter, Angel Scroggins.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha; a son, John “Jay E” Holyfield and wife, Stephanie; grandchildren, Jennifer Berry, Michael Scroggins, Hilary Shuffield, John John Holyfield, and Thadius Holyfield; a sister, Jo Ellen Guenther, and a host of friends and relatives.
Cremation services were handled by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen. There will be a celebration of life service at a later date.
