Dale Eugene Greenwalt, 93, of Hazen went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 18, 2026. He was born on September 27, 1932 as the sixth child of Charles and Ruby (Scott) Greenwalt.
His father and uncles, Newton and Stanley Greenwalt, established a legacy of farmers in Prairie County that still exists today. Dale graduated from Hazen High School where he enjoyed playing basketball. He left Hazen to become a bus driver in Dallas, TX where he worked his way up to supervisor and trained others to drive buses. A few years and a couple of kids later, he moved back to Hazen and returned to farming. He eventually became a tractor parts salesman at International Harvester. In midlife, he transformed himself into an appliance and heating and air repairman. In his later years, he enjoyed having yard sales but probably gave away more than he sold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Morris, Harold, and Roy, sisters Velma Holmes and Dorothy Fisher, grandsons William and Jacob Greenwalt, and great granddaughter Marigold Thorup.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn, sons Chuck and Kym, daughters Robin Flippin (Tony), Kristie Ward, and Tonya Prince (Bart Erstine), eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, brother Dorris Greenwalt and sister Joyce Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He often said he was blessed with the greatest family, and he loved them all.
To the entire Greenwalt family, please accept our sincerest condolences. We haven’t seen Dale, or most of you, in a long time, but love you all and remember Dale well. He was a good man, a Godly man, and known and loved by many. He’ll surely be missed. We’re out of state and won’t be there for his service, but know we’re thinking of, and praying for you all.
