Clora Mae Speaks

Clora Mae Speaks, born May 27, 1937, passed away from this life to her eternal home on May 18, 2024. Clora Mae met her soulmate, Earl Speaks, and was married on August 17, 1958. They were happily married for 65 years.

Clora Mae worked as a paraprofessional for 25 years at the De Valls Bluff School District where she enjoyed working with the younger children. She loved to cook for her family and kept a spotless home.  Clora Mae loved to shop and travel.  In her 70’s, she began to cruise to many parts of the world including two trips to Europe.

She cherished her family; her walls were covered with pictures of her family and cruise pictures.

Clora Mae was preceded in death by her son, Sammy Speaks; her parents, Roy “Bus” and Clora Sayger; her brother, Ricky; and a grandson, Justin. She is survived by her husband and soulmate, Earl Speaks; three daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Mannon, Connie (Rick) Tomaskovic, Donnie (Mirl) Stephens; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, Jennifer, Jessica, Amanda, Ashley, Jace, Julia, and Jamie; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia and Faye, and three brothers, Buster (Rose), Phillip, and Paul (Wanda).

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.  The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff with burial following in the Peppers Lake Cemetery.

  4. I am so very sorry for your loss. Mrs. Cora Mae was such a Sweet and Kind person. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help anyone that was in need. She will be missed by all who knew her. My thoughts and Prayers are with you. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow.

  5. I am so sorry for the loss of Ms Clora Mae. It was always a highlight to see her and Mr Earl at church when I would go back to visit and be at church with my Mom. We always shared great big hugs . Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
