Richard Erwin Dobbs

Richard Erwin Dobbs of Hazen, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Richard lived a long life of 83 years and leaves behind a profound legacy of wisdom, love, and a life beautifully lived.
Richard Dobbs was the son of John Dobbs and Elizabeth Earhart. He is survived by his loving wife Martha Dobbs, his children, Emily Dobbs Pleasanton and Lauren Dobbs; and cherished grandchildren, Aris Morgan, Cora Pleasanton, Ryder Dobbs-Horn, and Juniper Dobbs-Horn. In 1969, Richard married his beloved wife, Martha Templeton, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage and built a lasting foundation for future generations. Richard was a dedicated scientist who received his Ph.D. in Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1970. He spent his career in the research and development of medications for ophthalmic diseases – work that defined him and that he pursued with tireless commitment. He cherished his family deeply and held high hopes for each of them, believing in their potential and making sure they had what they needed to succeed.
Throughout his long life, Richard was the steady cornerstone of the family. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with loved ones. He showed his love through sentiment, steadfast presence, and unwavering support. Always there, always providing, always wanting the best for the people he loved.
Services for Richard will be Friday, May 29th, 2026 with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M with funeral services immediately following beginning at 11:00 A.M held at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen. Interment will be in the Hazen Cemetery.
