Gaylon Eugene Miller

Gaylon Eugene Miller, 85, of Hazen, Arkansas, passed away on September 2, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Eugene was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on January 13, 1937, and was preceded in death by his parents Gaylon and Neva (Tallent) Miller, and his sister Sue Brummett. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Omega (Coulson) Miller; son Paul Miller and wife Nancy; daughter Suzann Welch and husband Chris; and one grandson Christopher Welch.

Eugene was a graduate of De Valls Bluff High School and the University of Arkansas. He was a retired farmer from Tollville, and the former owner of Miller Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Hazen. He was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Hazen, serving various roles within the church, including board chairman. He was a former board member of the United Methodist Children’s Home. He was also active with Arkansas Farm Bureau and served as local president.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Hazen. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment to immediately follow at the Hazen Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bob Juola, Danny Rieke, Gene Rogers, Gary Rogers, Mason Sickel, and Lynn Grizzle. Honorary Pallbearers are Lindy Sickel, Alan Sickel, Reid Lynn Grizzle, Kent Smith, and Johnny Larkan.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made tothe United Methodist Children’s Home through Methodist Family Health, 1600 Aldersgate Road, Little Rock, AR 72205.

  1. So sad for you, Meg! I remember you working at Hall’s Grocery in Biscoe and telling me and Joyce about Eugene. Young love matured into 63 years of marriage!   2. I always enjoyed Eugene coming into the Farm Bureau office. He was always telling us about something on the farm and I was always enjoyed listening to him. Love and prayers for you and your family

  3. Always enjoyed our friendship in high school. Also enjoyed our visits at class reunions.
    Eugene was always a special friend and will be missed. Thoughts and prayers.
