
Denise Ann (Gerren) Tarter, 73, of North Little Rock, AR passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, February 13, 2026.
She was the first and oldest daughter of Charles and Doris Gerren born on June 2, 1952. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Doris Gerren; and her husband of 46 years, William Carlton (Butch/ W.C.) Tarter
She is survived by her only child, William “Keith” Tarter; her brother Charles Lynn Gerren (Christy) of England, Arkansas; and her youngest sister, Nina Jean Gerren King (Alan) of Hazen, Arkansas; and her nephew, Bobby Joe Tarter of Hazen, Arkansas.
Denise is a graduate of Hazen High School, Class of 1970. Denise received a Bachelor’s in English from and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She retired as a Legislative Analyst for the Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research after 38 years.
Denise enjoyed traveling, reading, studying her Bible, watching golf, and watching her favorite teams play ball the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals and the Indiana Fever. She enjoyed the app Duolingo, where she learned to be fluent in French. She especially loved visiting with all her many friends in the Greater Little Rock Women’s Federation (GRLWF) and the Business Professional Women (BPW).
A visitation will be Tuesday, February 17, 2026 beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen, Arkansas. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026 beginning at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Hazen, Arkansas. Interment will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, Arkansas.
