Bobby Perkins was born on August 27, 1946, to Robert Lee and Louise Riddle Perkins and raised in Carlisle, Arkansas, a community he proudly called home his whole life.
A 1964 graduate of Carlisle High School, he went on to attend the University of Central Arkansas before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS York. He was a lifelong member of Carlisle First Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
For more than 40 years, he farmed alongside his father and siblings at Perkins Brothers Farms. Farming was more than a livelihood; it was a way of life that reflected his strong work ethic, dedication to family, and appreciation for the land. He believed in the value of a hard day’s work.
He was a man who never met a stranger, had a quick wit, and rarely let an opportunity for a good joke pass him by. His sense of humor was one of his greatest gifts, and he had a way of making those around him laugh, often when they least expected it. He treasured his many friendships and could spend hours on the phone catching up, telling stories, and sharing a laugh. To know him was to know that a quick phone call was rarely ever quick.
An outdoorsman at heart, he found some of his greatest joys fishing and duck hunting. Countless memories were made in the duck blinds and deer camp at Cedar Tree Acres, where the stories and friendships were often just as important as the hunt itself. When he wasn’t outdoors, he could often be found tending to something around the house, firing up his beloved Big Green Egg, or simply enjoying the art of piddling — a pastime he had truly mastered.
Above all else, he loved his family. He shared 55 years of marriage with his wife, Christene Nutt Perkins, of Amity, Arkansas. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship, hard work, and laughter. His love for his children and grandchildren was immeasurable, and the memories they made together will remain among his greatest legacies.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Christene Perkins; his daughter, Kim (Brad) Moran; his sons, Clark Perkins and Stuart (Alyson) Perkins; his four grandchildren, Hayden Moran, Lawson Perkins, Walker Perkins, and Elliott Perkins; and his siblings, David (Becky) Perkins, Phillip Perkins, Gayla (Carlos) Lopez, and Marty Perkins; and many nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, cherished friendships, and a family who loved him dearly. His legacy will live on in the fields he worked, the places he loved, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless memories shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
